Oxford Dictionary Definition Scientific Method

One of my biggest pet peeves in life and it’s just so explosively worse on the internet and media platforms is an example of what is above.

This is how it looks these days on most of the articles I read especially since coming to Substack. I feel pity for the people posting what are supposed to be articles that can entirely be debunked in a 30 second google search.

Maybe they’re supposed to be tabloids?

I was born in 1980, I believe I was in 7th grade about 1992 science class approximately 11 or 12 years old (public school) when I was introduced to this. We had to strictly follow it for class assignments and I was then by in no way the all-star of the class.

Are we no longer teaching this in school or all these new writers missing these lessons somehow, or perhaps overly jumpy on the AI and not understanding they have to do SOME work?

On our turned in project assignments, we were also required to do a cover letter starting an introduction to ourselves, the typical “My name is, Mrs. IforgotHerName’s Class at ThisMiddleSchool” followed by a brief statement on our overall hypothesis.

This is a professional format because what they were teaching is a professional presentation. What we are doing stating our name and blah blah middle school- now we are adult independent academic civilian researchers and in all formalities this is where we insert a reference to our credentials in the applied field. Typically something like a academic degree, or x amount of years working in the field at …

One that was exposed to this, understands the idea.

Asserting any kind of professionalism without stating referenced credentials, I mean, be all one can be I guess, but it gives 0 credibility and stating oneself in certain professions without actual legit credentials in those fields is illegal to misrepresent yourself as an expert or professional in.

That is a pretty simple concept, those fields you certainly don’t misrepresent yourself in as example- I study Hyperbolic geometry extensively I consider myself a somewhat expert but if I give somebody bad advise in it- I don’t need a license to study or even practice math furthermore, I am allowed to teach it to anyone willing to learn outside of organized school systems that require specific degrees. And I didn’t just find this interest yesterday writing an article, it has been part of my work in structural engineering and now applying into graphic design.

On the other hand I do study psychology, which requires a legally obtained license in order to even claim yourself a professional in the field of. We respect that and retain ourselves the overall academic civilian researcher title. We study for information, we write in an aspect of information exchange and education and in no way claiming ourselves an expert.

I study neurology too. And I am not a neurologist. See where I am going?

Imagine a content creator making a post opening with this that drone like established authority, “I am an expert, I am a trained professional” and they are giving health or nutrition advice, breathing exercises even.

Now this might seem petty, who cares right? The said creator would probably tell you don’t over think it.

Then what happens if someone has a heart attack or stroke or commits suicide and their holding that content page reading health advise from a self proclaimed expert in the field. I believe that could create some headaches, especially if someone dies oddly these days they are now looking to see how recently they talked to the robot.

Why would someone even want to leave that doorway open, let alone jam it up with a bunch of ill or not at all researched speculation and biased opinions?

A writer’s primary job is not exactly writing. Unless maybe if we are writing total fiction and that is fun but when we also do legit research we must vastly separate our fiction from established truths recognized by this Scientific Method when we switch over to writing on reality.

Writers study and research their subjects, especially if we are writing in genres other than fiction or tabloid.

When I do my primary research the best and most respected dictionary is Oxford followed by Websters. The Google AI feedback, Google search and Wiki usually do a pretty good job I usually cross reference between them all for any inconsistencies or variations in context or applications if something is questionable. Not often Oxford is off.

This has been used back to the era of Socrates and later pioneered by Aristotle a thousand years before that and was finally formalized by Sir Francis Bacon in the 17th century as pretty much the go to standard of establishing proven truths or challenging existing proven concepts.

So let’s note, there are only 6 steps to scientific method. My inserted model above carries 8 as it has inserted “test hypothesis” and “report”. Here is a breakdown.

Observation: This process begins when someone observes something in the natural world and identifies a pattern that sparks reason for a hypothesis.
Question: formulate your observation into a testable problem or question. This usually revolves around the typical “who, what, where when, why or how” of the phenomenon- or what I like to call an anomaly.
Research: Before even attempting to answer the question (this is where unfounded claims spawn in skipping this step), we need to explore existing scientific literature and past experiments to help refine repeating past mistakes.
Forming the Hypothesis: A hypothesis is a tentative, testable, and falsifiable statement that directly predicts the outcome of the proposed test.
The Experiment: We develop a procedure to formally test the hypothesis. A valid experiment changes only 1 single variable at a time (the independent variable) while keeping all other conditions constant controlled variables to measure the effect of the dependent variable. This is the feedback you return for step 6. If one has at all skipped any of these steps- one is working solely on speculation and opinion with no actual logical foundation to one’s claim.
Analyze Data and Drawing a Conclusion: We examine the information we gathered during the experiment. We identify patterns or trends in the data. Based on this feedback analysis we determine if our data supports or refutes the hypothesis.

There is no need for the additional 2 steps- reporting the data is obviously well know, it seems to be the other steps people are having issues with when publishing papers that make stated claims.

We not only use this system to explore our own theories and ideas, we also use it to examine other. So when you come across and an article “I am an expert in knowing when someone dies” for example, I have seen this one a few times. I guess this dodo doesn’t realize there is no certification or actual academically respected professionalism in ‘knowing when someone is going to die’ the closes thing you will find here is a medical doctor and even THEY will tell you they are no expert in knowing if you have another however long- their data could say 6 months, but they will tell you know know some people make 6 years.

My mother was one- she was told taken off an incubation machine she would be dead within minutes. That expert MD had a failed analysis as she lasted several more years. Claiming expertise in something that doesn’t exist is a huge red flag. Again the closest thing we can tie that to is a Medical Doctor, and if we are representing ourselves as a MD, and we are in fact not.

And this is not a hypothesis. Across all 50 states in the USA it is a felony to misrepresent yourself as a doctor, lawyer, psychiatrist, psychologist, etc etc.

Now this might not matter to some and seem some OCD care over to others. Me, I try my best at what I apply myself to. If I think, I want to be good, or one of the best at it. There are some shortcuts for sure but something I picked up in studying and practicing art mostly is understanding and enjoying the process. The fact that is not always about the end result. For many people this is how art, music or literature based therapy works.

If we are banging 5 articles a day out on AI with little if any research behind our work, these people are defeating that purpose. Writers, again, do not spend most their time writing, if you are a legit writer you know you spend more time in research and study. Me personally- I enjoy it. I like learning and on top of that, if someone were to challenge me on one of my subjects. i can damn well back it up with logical debate, reason and references. I do not make unfounded statements, and I make it a certain point to separate fiction from reality or science oriented writings.

Are not given or In-completion. I couldn’t put a statistic on it here but the ratio is extremely high of posts starting some pretty wild claims on sht that has already been proven in the opposite direction. Posting mindless unfounded nonsense trying to argue it in the other direction may get some attention from the less educated and more 75% of the conformists in our society.

Anyone who actually knows their subject. Me, I won’t leave nasty trolling comments, or take apart people’s articles - I did 1 and when I got the auto like and thumbs up reply comment on it, it was pretty clear it was an automated AI account and pretty pointless.

There was a saying I believe in schooling even younger than that 92’ class on Scientific Method something like “if you don’t have anything nice to say. . .”

I try to find a little nicer way to put it, and within my own page in a more educational standpoint to point out the masses of what’s going wrong here.

Quite simply. Without any reference or backing. If reading work that has 0 references, 0 cited resources to related studies or backup data supporting their claim. These people will only attract the Dodo’s of society. The professional writers, researchers, academics will simply pass their page over within the first few sentences.

And quite bluntly- I’m not chasing tons of hollow mindless followers to acquire and count numbers. My own strategy and content is geared toward the more intellectual types that actually enjoy reading, writing, making art, learning the process and enjoying it from start to finish. Not pumping out 4 non-senses unfounded AI written articles a day with absolutely no background knowledge in formal writing when it comes to asserting facts and opinions.

The ISL Outline

Because I write within various fields, my Wang Cong’er story a technical historical fiction. I also have a fiction release starting soon, as well as I obviously do a lot of research/study related publishing my main contents break down as so.

Fiction: Pure fiction, no research required. We make it up as we go, no need to fact check or cite any references at all.
Non-fiction/Historical Fiction: With non fiction we have little creative input we must stick to the facts and find a way to manage creative writing around it. Historical fiction is similar. Obviously with history we usually end up missing some pieces or swap scenarios out or make changes for whatever fill ins we don’t actually know truths about or we make these changes in a theatrical that fits our story.
Biography: I have not released the Wang Conger biography yet, as I am still working on completing this as it will have a more comprehensive and accurate overview of this historical character than what is revealed on Google and Wiki. In this I cite full known truths, separate myths and also separate the creative fictional liberties I have taken in my own story line that is different than recorded history.
Scientific / Research Related: I check my sources, I don’t cite references for what I construe as commonly accepted truths unless in entry level articles on subjects. Overall if I feel Google or Wiki brings a good enough representation back- I often overlook citing because it’s easily verified with a simple cross check. I state and source my known and established truths to build on, then bring in my hypothesis as a new look or a innovative idea on a test theory. I do not make speculative, assertive or unfounded statements. I do not present these as “What I think of believe” these are stated as hard verifiable facts. What I think and believe has a reserve opener “I think”, “I believe”, or “I feel”. Socraterian Dialectic debate is a good place to start in the very simple fundamental- do not make assertions on topics you cannot prove, instead ask questions and propose hypothesis and present some foundational proven ground work to lay that idea on.
Art Works: My gallery is slow growing because I am otherwise occupied with articles and other tasks, it will continue to grow however, it is not just an art gallery but also a backdrop on character development in which I will be spotlighting iconic characters, their creators and some story on this history and creation process.
Notes: This is all straight Bullsht. We find that kitten pictures and rubber chickens draw more attention than what we are actually here to deliver in content- it is a grotesque reality showing the mind frame of the typical viewers. How many friggin’ pics does someone want to look at? Apparently people do nothing but sit and scroll cat pics all day. Notes is not so much even a creators interactive within the site. It is a major opportunity to inject search sensitive URL keyword tags to draw outside visitors to your site. Make them relevant to your topics so the Google and other external engines throw out “Hyperbolic Kittens with ADHD and hyper focus wired on kitty neuro-stimulants…”. It sounds ridiculous and kind of fun but this will drive the exterior engines and bring people looking at cat pictures into hyperbolic mathematics and studies into brain science and cognitive studies. I don’t want the cat fanatics particularly but some might have jobs or work in fields relevant to my publishing. Get the idea?
Free-Style Writings: This article and many articles I write are free-style, done on the fly, not highly polished. They carry typos and mistakes in grammer and punctuation. I am not going to sit down and professionalize every single article I post. I actually do ALL of mine BY HAND with exception to Cong’er which is a story that I have completed in writing, I just cutting up now and applying more copy editing (with time- I often find myself back editing live articles) as I post them into the article editor here.

Free-style writing is actually my favorite because it is how more accurately type and speak. I make errors, I burp and hiccup say ‘uhh’ and use a ton of slang and profanity (I believe in the application of select “tactical profanity- read Stephen King’s On Writing. He basically explains his minimal use of profanity in practicality of evoking power and emotion in the aspect- if one’s piece is littered with profanity it loses it’s ability to invoke a sense of power in how it is applied, yet if it’s the only fuckin’ curse word in the entire book/story/article. it picks up a major enhancement in playing on psychology in drawing emotion and power to the context of that particular context.

For those that have not read this- Love King or hate him. The guy is arguably one of the most passionate writers the world has seen and uncontested one of the most successful best selling authors of all time with almost half a billion copies of his books sold.

And again for the most part. This is not about getting every bit of grammar and punctuation correct but actually doing your homework and research. This apparently is not happening in much of the articles I see which points me to believe immediately- This guy just prompted the AI, doesn’t even know his subject matter because his first 3 opening paragraphs are ALL debunked by a simple 30 second google search. It’s not even that I mind so much people use AI now to write- but they aren’t doing any work at all.

It is beyond AI slop when the entire article is just nonsense and contrary to all known studies on it without a (whether AI wrote it or not) fundamental approach to how we actually challenge that formally.

Quite literally that crap only belongs among the tabloid headlines ”Aliens abducted my prize pig and impregnated my wife!”.

And you can play a Doctor on TV, you can even give medical advice as yourself but if you are not a Doctor and claim yourself as a professional or expert in a licensed required field. It is actually a prison sentence if you are brought into court, especially if your advise leads to or is even suspected in the injury or negative result someone endured due to reading ungrounded nonsenses from someone claiming to be a professional and expert. Your typical pro-writer knows this because they have acquired much knowledge of their time actually studying and writing their content.

The AI Gurus and overly eager to prove their incompetence haven’t caught onto this yet. The AI won’t tell you about all this either, unless you know the information yourself to prompt to it.

We must all remember though.

The man that already knows everything.

Can’t be taught anything.

One of the most intelligent known men in history, would have told you himself.

Neuro-divergents don’t need a shrink…

They need an education.

I am one of said neurodivergents.

And we all know what a psychologist is right? You can goto Oxford to look that one up, if not you’re most likely on the wrong webpage.

Do we know the difference between a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist? I will clarify that one so there is no confusion.

Psychiatrists hold a MD or DO degree, they study and work in the biological field of mental illness and can prescribe medications.

A Psychologist will hold degrees usually PhD or PsyD and specialize in psychotherapy, psychological testing and behavioral interventions. They can not prescribe medications unless they have also acquired the medial and anatomical schooling degrees to do so.

They can however refer you to their buddy who is a behavioural psychiatrist. 🤣

We are civilian researchers, or at least I am and I assume you are also reading a page into cognitive psychology; we cannot practice and certainly cannot prescribe controlled substances, but we can certainly study and learn about conditions effecting us or other around us as well as idealize and rationalize solutions from studies we ourselves do.

Life experience, we will find. Counts more than anything else when it comes to skills and skill levels. Don’t ever let anyone dismiss your life experiences.

One thing the Oxford definition is missing on both Professional Psychologist and Psychiatrist is the missed coherence in the word PROFESSIONAL.

What do we think of when we say that?

Or do we just check Oxford and Wiki?

A professional is someone of extremely high experience and skill within their trade, we can also associate that professionals are usually paid for their professional work. In most cases. In fact according to the National Institute of Health 51 billion dollars a year is billed to health insurance carriers for psychotherapy.

Psychologists average in the USA around 120,000 per year outside of private practice, and Psychiatrist average 270,000-360,000 per year outside of private practice. Obviously, if we live in Beverly Hills and Paris Hilton walks in, that’s a lifetime gig and you hit the big times. This is based on statistical USA national averages.

You can find this just peeking at national average incomes, higher lower maybe depending where you are located.

That’s a lot more money than I make. I have met a bunch of them too. Many of them, either do not know the fundamentals out of the basic psychology text books or when they get confused they will throw up something like “ohh I am just a behavioural therapist” and look at you like you have 3 heads when you mention cognitive psychology or spatial awareness.

I guess maybe they don’t have any?

To put this in a very easy to understand context: Shrinks make a lot of money based solely on your lack of education and understanding of yourself and they really don’t seem to know all that much in the first place.

Let’s think for a moment …

They make this money because they understand you, better than you yourself do. That is why a subject is there seeking behaviour advice from who they believe is a professional in how the mind works.

Your problem with neurosis, ADHD, Autism, whatever they labeled “disorder” they will be overly willing to prescribe you a whole cabinet full of medications that have clinical success in turning you, into not you... “Making you normal”, if they can’t of course they have several referral options that can. Do we know how medical and pharmaceutical kickbacks work? We can get it into that later in a separate article but yes. Doctors are paid money and get bonuses for giving you, whatever the hottest new thing on the market is.

You need to stop smoking, but here take this pharmaceutical grade methamphetamine.

They won’t however much inform you of the long term cognitive effects & chemical imbalances in your brain things like Adderall, Ritalin - Clonopin - will change you in the long run (We will have a separate article on this too). They will be fast to shoot down natural remedies and won’t give you the cognitive education necessary to deal with and assess these issues yourself and their treatment, it never ends unless you end it. You are the one who has to say. “Hey! I’m fixed!”, or “Whoa, there was nothing wrong with me to begin with!”

So next Tuesday, same time right?

Actually I think I’m good… If I need methamphetamine or whatever other hard-to-spell and pronounce names to be normal like everyone else ( I remember the Breyer’s Ice Cream commercial- “If you can’t say it, you probably shouldn’t eat it!”)… I am not too sure I want to be normal like everyone else.

This is their business, how they make their money & despite those long hours on whatever couch and their regulated almost non-existent input yet often kind and inspirational words. I can show you the same books that crap comes from if you want but in my opinion. Stop beating the dead horse. It don’t work.

These people are not your friend.

You are their mentally disabled patient.

And your treatment is not unique. Billy Joe was on that same couch right before you doing the same thing you now are and Peggy Sue is scheduled right after you.

Note too, with this said, my overall recommendation would 100% be to skip the shrink. If you want to speak with one, take a class or seminar in psychology where you are not being observed & treated as a patient, as well as independently studying your condition & how it applies to you.

One thing we see in modern medicine and psychology alike is the “one size fits all” methods of evaluation & treatment. This concept is almost impossible to logically reason with when it relates to cognitive & behavioral patterns because we all have unique & individual histories that affect our current & future mental states.

Part of NYC’s Eric Adam’s Nov, 2022 announcement of his directive to allow NYPD officers and medical professionals to involuntarily hospitalize unsheltered individuals who appear to be experiencing severe, untreated mental illness.

This includes you if you have been seeing a shrink just to “Talk” or think you are just getting advice on stress management. You might not be homeless but how far does this go? Also “Involuntarily hospitalize”, involuntary means against your will, you can’t leave. That is a nice way of saying Medical Jail. Donald Trump signed for it on a federal level not long after.

If you are seeing a shrink, even just to “talk,” whatever your reasoning other than: you “are a patient” and by law considered being treated for “mental illness.”

This is also a profitable business in billing either private or state/federal medical insurance.

If you walk in today to visit and interview 10 different shrinks.

I would bet you money not one will tell you - you have no problems they can detect and will instead try to convince you why they are the right choice for you.

If you are prescribed medication by a psychiatrist who has diagnosed you with a mental disorder you may or may not have and you do not take that medication. Now you are a psych patient off your meds.

I wonder how good ol’ Arthur. The Joker would ring in on this. 🤣

Something here brings to mind that speaker announcement “medication time… medication… medication time….” and of course lovely Nurse Ratched.🤣

The revelation of removing people with mentalities agrues a bit like this:

Normal person/Deranged Psychopath/ ADHD / Wrong Place, Wrong Time (Your pick):

“I don’t have mental issues I only see the shrink to talk about stress - she’s my friend.”

Assistant District Attorney:

“You are a legal patient of Dr. — with a signed patient confidentiality agreement, Dr. Mindfuct is a respected therapist/psychologist. You are in her Mindfuct treatment program, and further, if you were mentally sound you would not have had the need to consult with Dr. Mindfuct 643 times over the past 3 years - Approx 1-3× a week.”

If you are seeing a shrink, in the eyes of the law you have a mental disability you are being treated for. And despite the confidential notices and labels.

You will quickly find out just how un-confidential they are if you ever end up in court. You will also then hear the things they really analyze about you behind that smile and kind encouraging words. Off the meds, you were never on to begin with (remember Regan, “Say ‘NO!’ to Drugs Kids!”)

So why don’t people research psychology? I’d say everyone has a brain certainly should if for anything to learn how humans in general think, especially yourself as an individual.

Has anyone here experimented with drugs as a kid? Perhaps do a little research in the elder years of the weird sht you put into your body and how it reacts with not only that moment but your actual brain chemistry?

When is the last time you read a actual scientific publication on neuroscience that wasn’t some meme on Instagram or what passed around for social likes?

Bring up that companies and government spend billions researching how you, yes you as a part of society and as an individual - so many brush this off like either it’s some big unfounded conspiracy or simply don’t care why Meta is collecting their biometric data now.

Already building databases on your thought and thought process, except now. They have your fingerprints, biometric facial recognition, retinal scans to go into their profile on you. We do it here too on Substack, we however, only ask for an email. They do this and because we submit the data voluntarily they get to own the data and monetize it themselves into all kinds of venture capitals. The amount of time you spend looking at this page is measured in microseconds (ms). We all have graphs and charts to track usage in creator accounts.

Forever information knowledge has been withheld from the greater majority of society because …

Information is Dangerous.

Just 50 years ago this discussion would have prompted the men in black to escort someone off because these studies used to be highly classified government and corporate research. Fortunately for many they ended up in the field pioneering the studies of it.

That has gotten more difficult in modern time and when you look closely and observe, you’ll see very easily the neurodivergent minds are, have been and continue to be suppressed in lacks of education and opportunities.

That “mental disability” - you’re officially a “crazy person” so nothing you ever say or do will hold much if any actual academic credibility / practical fact. People with mental disorders - real or like many misdiagnosed & improperly treated, spend more time in jail/prison sentences than neurotypicals - they also carry the stigma of that - oh... he’s crazy & obsessive sees the shrink every monday. Don’t be that person.

Disability does not pay much. It is under 1,000 dollars per month here in Massachusetts and you’re almost hand guided into just claiming a disability and collecting a check.

That might be fine and great for some people. What about people who want to actually be productive and earn an income? You can’t just turn disability on and off even for cognitive ‘disorders’ as job opportunities come and go.

We can write another article just on jobbing in this subject matter.

So with the relevant thesis here:

The majority ( and I do not mean all) of neuro-divergents do not need a shrink, or even therapy, they certainly don’t need behavioral modification drugs. They need more of an education and study of the related cognitive & behavioral psychology the shrink & society is not teaching as well as an environment that relates to them in a healthy productive way.

If we actually started healing people, there would be none left to profit on in treating.

This is similar to why the USA just continues treating issues - health, psychology, homelessness - most other countries you’ll find don’t have these issues because they don’t build profitable systems around it.

These days especially too, we jack kids up with insane amounts of fructose, caffeine, Monster this Red Bull that, halloween explosion up the ying yang, and take them to a shrink because they’re bouncing off the walls.

We seem to forget that’s a natural energy is part of childhood, all the synthetic nonsense we feed them is not, yet they are extremely powerful neuro stimulants many people don’t even research into past maybe a basic google search. Try cross referencing it with psychological effects and neurology.

Now your kid, who is a totally normal kid: is having a record of mental illness built on them that will stigmatize them for life and chances are they don’t even have a disorder at all. When we start increasing our knowledge and learning these withheld truths: It will start to show these are not disabilities.

Especially with children we should be extremely careful with medicating them. It is established already that mental stabilities and childhood/teen years usually stabilize out with age. This is natural hormones, puberty, and the relentless persistence kids have.

Remember we acknowledge we learn best in our youth, we absorb knowledge so fast like a sponge with our introduction decade to the world. Somewhere along this aging process we lose this almost super ability to learn 2 full languages perfectly before you're 7 years old!

And maybe that’s exactly where we get caught.

Don’t over think this and don’t cheat and don’t get lost within the infinite.
This is called The Evaluators Paradox and it is a current topic of debate around a lot of behavioral study and studies how people are losing cognitive skills and learning abilities basically to AI

A researcher locks an independent thinker in a room with 2 buttons.

The Blue Button mathematically proves you are completely sane but, it requires you to remain in the room indefinitely to maintain the baseline experiment.

Saying Mathematical Psychology these days around people, even mainstream psychologists can get you some incredibly awkward stares.

So let’s start with the history.

First of all, mathematical psychology has been around since the dawn of conscious recognition. and basic arithmetic.

The traits and applications are woven all through history if you look closely enough. They usually manifest in warlords, historical strategies or tactical/academic geniuses. When you start to study math and psychology unilaterally they start to blend into one another.

The first formal mentions of this cross-disciplinary study date back to the 17th century, but it wasn’t until the 1950s that it became an established, rigorous research field. Driven forward during the 1960s, an era saturated with MK Ultra and behavioral control experiments, the discipline exploded in 1964 with the founding of the Journal of Mathematical Psychology by a pioneering group of scholars: R.C. Atkinson, R.R. Bush, W.K. Estes, and R.D. Luce.

It might sound wild to apply cold equations to human consciousness, but remember: Freud and Jung built their entire foundational legacies by explicitly applying the laws of thermodynamics to psychological energy. 🤣 We can discuss building water heaters and HVAC systems too but this is way more fun.

At its core, math-psy is an unorthodox way for number nerds to translate abstract, verbal psychological theories into formal mathematical thesis models. This is called predictive modeling. By mapping cognitive and behavioral processes out as mathematical equations, we gain the ability to isolate, manipulate, insert, or remove specific variables.

From there, we can build behavioral simulation models of human cognitive function. It sounds chaotic until you realize it is statistically more accurate than psychological testing that relies solely on descriptive observations

We can build working equations to simulate variables like procrastination vs. progress, or map parameter influences to root out corruption in complex organizational models. We can even mathematically analyze cognitive bias.

All we need are some input variables and we can play with rooting out corruption in simulation models.

This data goes straight to the heart of why people make the exact choices they do or don’t, forming a pillar inside both cognitive and behavioral sciences. We are already using these applications to test these profiles, and the truth is: it is a little uncomfortably accurate.

We have all seen CSI and Criminal Minds. Those shows where analysts build complex persona profiles, target charts, and behavioral graphs on subjects of interest? People actually do that for a living using these exact methods. And math is brutally honest. It doesn’t lie, it doesn’t flatter, and it doesn’t compromise. To quote a classic line: “The truth? You can’t handle the truth!” 🤣

Currently, Purdue University and Northeastern right here in Boston, Ohio State University, University of Notre Dame and Ball State University are listed as the top schools in the USA with programs into this field.

This is an elusive, high-barrier subject. Researchers in this domain typically hold a Ph.D. in Mathematical Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, or Cognitive Sciences. You don’t just go to school for it; you go to school to go to school for it. It’s a literal Russian doll of information. You have to master the underlying psychological concepts just to understand what needs modeling, and then back it up with the advanced mathematical engineering required to turn those concepts into a workable equation.

This gets complex. To give you a look at what this looks like in active research pipelines, here is how the data breaks down:

Stochastic Modeling of Behavior: Researchers use continuous telemetry data to track the locations and movements of subjects over time. This data is fit to stochastic models, such as Hidden Markov Models (HMM), to mathematically infer changes in cognitive states or decision-making strategies based on movement patterns
Physiological Psychology and Stress: Telemetric monitoring of heart rate, cortisol levels, and EEG data allows mathematical psychologists to map cognitive load and stress factors under naturalistic conditions. These time-series metrics are then evaluated using statistical models like regression analysis or state-space models.
Cognitive Load in Serious Games: Telemetry is heavily applied in human-computer interaction and game-based learning. By tracking input metrics (mouse movements, response times, navigation patterns), mathematical models evaluate hidden cognitive processes, such as skill acquisition and attention shifts, using techniques like Item Response Theory (IRT)
Computational Modeling of Attention: Eye-tracking telemetry captures dynamic spatial attention shifts during complex cognitive tasks, such as mental arithmetic. This data feeds directly into computational architectures (e.g., ACT-R) or the SEEV model (Salience, Effort, Expectancy, Value) to mathematically optimize how humans process information.

These are some explanations you can find just by surfing around into studies and type models and research that is being done.

Sigmund Freud himself founded Psychoanalytic theory and therapy. Right there, what? Analytics? We seem to end up back in mathematics as if the 2 subjects are married.

When you walk down a busy street in an engaged, chaotic city,surrounded by crowd noise, birds dive-bombing for food, panhandlers, and cars blasting music. Your brain is performing all of this physics and trajectory math completely in the background.

Seeing an incoming bird and calculating its speed to decide if you need to duck? That data moving from your eye to your brain is live telemetry. Your brain is running real-time analytics on that data stream to predict if the bird will pull up or impact. The oncoming car, the kid playing with a yoyo on the sidewalk. This is all complex math we are constantly intaking and processing below our conscious awareness.

When you start to understand the underlying math, which feels less and less quality-taught these days outside of specialized fields. The world and physics click into place. The fundamentals start with probability, statistics, and strict ratios. You need a solid grounding in basic arithmetic, fractions, and decimals (I misplace my decimals and reverse my fractions all the time and screw up a lot!). But in psychology, the ultimate starting point is simply observing yourself, the people around you, and the environment across different spatial tracking ranges.

This is the groundwork. In upcoming articles, we will go a step deeper and look at how to actually construct these mathematical to simulate human behavior from scratch.

So with the Substack stuff I have been learning, I have been rather busy in person this last week between some art programs, and getting some things done. I haven’t added to the Substack help, I will.

I like giving these little backdoor (and note totally legal) hacks into saving money in whatever way. So this has an interesting story behind it.

The Scene

By 1995, I was 15 growing up too fast in the South Florida club scene that never sleeps between Orlando and Miami- we, and when I say we, meaning either with my lil’ sister or friends or both, we kinda had our crews, even stole parent’s the car and made trips to Louisiana to buy paper cards with hatters stamped on them.

Raves were getting more and more mainstreamed, but we grew up with a lot of the DJ’s hosting the private house party ones out in the middle of the orange groves glow-sticks, pacifiers and Vicks.

This era is responsible for what is considered still to this day some of the best music and sound production equipment ever built. It is now considered vintage, and you can get rebuilt, refurbished, or well kept models for fractions of their costs now.

We will further down cover some product lists and capabilities.

The Kicker

Have you priced out what it costs to have your story turned into a professional quality audio book yet?

You have a few options-

You can have a single narrator, you can have an overall narrator and individual voices for each character’s dialogue, you can have sound effects and music added. Drum beats, cinematic sounds of shouts, screams or swords clashing in battle as glass breaks.
You can get some really cool work done, but it is very progressively expensive if you hire a professional company to do this work for you- like as much as $5000-$15,000 for a standard 350-500 page 150k word count full length novel.
You also run the risk, if you don’t like the finish product- you’re going to be paying for what are called change orders which can be quite expensive. They are usually stated in all that crap lit we don’t bother reading these days when we sign our names on legal contracts.
You can hire and record actual voice actors however professional rates…? Yeah, no. You have to do some homework here too to build things, Pro-voice actors you don’t want to see what they cost to read your story over and over and over and over for the next 2-4 weeks straight. You are better off hiring homeless people buying them coffee and sandwiches to '“Talk to you” for a while 🤣. This is why the pros are losing work to AI now, and actually a help to the starving artist- they will not work for lower rates we can’t afford. We can sample voices too and even build their voice if we want. For what this cost to produce that 1 book- I am showing you how to produce as many books as you want for free with the price of that one investment using your own equipment at home.
You can also go to make the audio book yourself and struggle and stumble with how to phonetically prompt it, how to use your ellipses and double and triple- total nightmare to the Oxford comma and rules of just about all dictionaries and grammatical rules.
I highly suggest Eleven Labs, these guys are a world standard in AI voice overs and make up a large portion of the voices you hear on TV infomercials and Youtube these days. But - WAIT!!!
They have some hitches. Very expensive ones.

Want to know what the bait is in those free sites advertised to do it?

They are legit indeed 11Labs is the Creme de la Creme of them too but it is also the most expensive and they know how to play your wallet, remember they are computer programer nerds who figure out algorithms for a living, don’t think they are not using CS analytical knowledge to figure out how to get more $$ outta ya wallet.

- you can do some really fun and nice sounding stuff on these, but they offer a free trial with limited tokens- those tokens are small fractions of what you need to complete those 150k words because you are paying tokens PER character. Your space is a token, even when you have to double and triple space so the reader pauses or sighs or what not.

An Ellipse is a line set of periods, it is recognized by the AI reader as particular pause points in length you have to learn that spacing and get those placed right so it sounds how you want it.

We are starving artists remember? This is not ideally working out for us and we need a valid and legal way to do what we want without paying this much to do it.

Let’s get into how they are making Jurassic Park and all this superior deep fake non-sense in a bedroom with graphic accomplishments that 20 years ago took production studios and costs that ranged in the hundreds of millions of dollars. We will get to visuals later for now let’s get to the fun stuff with the audio and how we build this.

The Korg Triton

61 key compact model

This machine… Is a fkin’ BEAST!!!

And don’t worry you don’t have to know how to play keys to use a voice engine on this, we aren’t making music with it in this article, you just need to be able to push a single key on queue to trigger a sound to do other stylized audio work.

Manufactured starting in 1999, there were some earlier prototype releases. This is the successor model of the Korg Trinity keyboard (released in 95’), synthesizer, sequencer voice engine and sound modulator,

This is one of the absolute best pieces of musical equipment ever made, this thing or the sounds that came out of it’s engine were all over the millennial Billboard top 100s.

This was a $3000 keyboard then to walk out of a store with it and became a legendary musical monster of modern pop-culture. You can find them now for around $600 refurbished, or in relatively good condition. They have a MIDI- Musical Instrument Digital Interface connection. You can plug it right into your modern laptop. The unit has an industry standard onboard sequencer but we are better off with a modern chrome book, or a Lenovo laptop (Alienware is nice, but overrated, Lenovo is giving more bang for the buck these days).

For working with sound and graphics, this is where the more expensive and higher capable equipment is worth the expenditure as the computer is our center piece.

The Roland VT-4 Voice Transformer

This is a newer piece, from 2018 by Roland. We could go full Intergalactic Planetary like the Beastie boys did with the Fat Procoder VF11, the VF11 is a older model and it is analog- we can still work with it both these units ranged only around $300, MAM- Music and More released the VF11 in 98’ Intergalactic instantly made it famous but we can sometimes find these at pawn shops for $50-$200 depending on condition. If you notice that nice empty black socket with the green that says MIDI IN, we connect our MIDI line there to a multi input controller, you can get a decent modern one for $50-$100 from any music store.

DUEL SAMPLERS WILL BE NEEDED

The AKAI MPC-3000 came out in 94’, we are not going to get into that now, that is the absolute best machine for the job here. It was a $4000 machine when it was released in 94’ It is STILL selling refurbished, used, in whatever condition with approximately, and still $4000 dollar price tag. If money is not an issue- There is a reason that machine has held it’s value. It is a super legacy in the music industry.

The Triton you might be thinking, he didn’t mention the onboard sampler in the Triton- we are running audio clip work, we will be using the Triton as an engine and may have it otherwise occupied while needing to queue another voice.

The Roland SP-808 is a amazing bang for the buck sampler, $1500 machine new in 98’ when it came out, you can find them online now used / refurbished for approximately $400. This will also plug into a colluding MIDI controller fed into a laptop,

Because the Triton has a onboard sequencer, sampler, synthesizer, and sound modulation- we only need the synthesizer for voice transformation manipulation, we can use the sequencer to program drumbeats/drum rolls, again do not worry you do not need to be a musician to do this, if you can play the keys and roll the drums yourself, we are into making music too obviously! But we can use the computer software to easily program our drums and theme sounds, we can also with these dual samplers record sounds and on queue drop them into our audio work space.

Now, these 3 primary pieces centered around that Triton are absolute necessary for this setup, along with appropriate MIDI controller interface, a sht ton of nice Monster speaker wire(it is gold plated and has some of the best on market sound transfer quality- or its audio books you can cheap out- go Monster for the music 😎),

You are going to need some 1/4, 1/8 line input and output cables, obviously some headphones with noise canceling or a quiet room with some close as you can get to studio quality speakers- Tannoy Reveals are great but $15 Marshall’s earbuds work.

Definitely do not forget a studio setup static microphone that stays where you are recording at home, and a secondary mobile mic- if you are recording voices you can get some good headsets now that are mobile and digitally record and you can later tweek and sample the voices into your project work,

The Presonus 32 Studio Part Mixer

The Final Piece

When you are working with audio engineering- every sound has it’s own particular track- the guitar is input into one isolated controllable track, the singer is on another individual track, the drums are even broken down into individual percussion instruments- those are all fed out via these measured line inputs and outputs and flow into this machine simultaneously, from this machine we go directly into our laptop.

Now yes, you can setup docking stations and run midi’s direct into your laptop and not have this machine, it costs about $1100. Again we are back to what kind of laptop you have, remember we are processing sound, moving that data around requires processing power setups on pro work computers or high end gaming computers specifically designed for sound and graphic output. You may run into some lag and recording issues with a slower computer if you are running too many inputs, you can bypass that with a external part mixer- and you do not need a 32 part- you can do with a cheaper 16 part even, depending how complex you want your audio to be- but in investing in the equipment. It is yours forever, we are talking relatively low cost here for what we are doing. If we can make pro audio books forever, maybe even freelance doing it like this some- you get the best you can with what you got thinking long term.

With these few items listed you can create professional sound and audio voices, you can create and tweek your own sounds, you can play with sound waves. The capabilities of these machines combined for audio- it is just infinite.

You can put this together for the cost of 1 or less pro made audio books- you only need to take the time, invest the effort, watch some Youtube videos- educate yourself on how to use them. They look colorful and cool, but overwhelming to try to figure out with all the buttons and knobs, but it is a lot easier than it looks, a lot of fun twisting sound in whatever intergalactic way.

If this catches interest I will do some more articles on this process as I have worked with this equipment in the past and am already beginning to collect the pieces once again myself as I have quite a few articles planned to push out further this week.

Incorporating Hyperbolic Mathematics into Cognitive Psychology: Incorporating the saddle #2

If we remember our saddle from our second article in hyperbolics, this is the fundamental structure and formula we over lay in a form of consciousness. We relate this to what is called parallel processing in psychology.

We we walk down the street we are basically:

Visual Tracking: Predicting the changing walking trajectories of 50 different pedestrians.
Auditory Gating: Dissecting the specific decibel shift of a motorcycle engine buzzing three blocks away.
Kinesthetic/Spatial Awareness: Measuring the physical vibration of an approaching subway line through the concrete.

This is not even to mention who knows that signals we don’t see around us interact and interfere with us. Not so many decades ago, you’d be locked up and called looney for talking about signals in the air. Know why we don’t have better wireless charging capabilities?

They use what is called magnetic induction.

If you broadcast 100 Watts of power from a central hub in the center of a room, a phone 10 feet away, the phone's tiny antenna might only capture 0.05 Watts.

The remaining 99.95 Watts doesn't just disappear; it dissipates into the room, bouncing off walls, furniture, and you.

There is something called Dielectric Heating and it is caused by running high-power RF waves across a room.

On top of our visual, audio and Kinesthetic tracking within the hyperbolic plane we inhabit- because we indeed have visuals, sound, vibration, smell coming at us and touching all of our surfaces simultaneously.

I call our chaos factor, hallucinations and psychosis are some pretty serious side effects of something most people don’t even realize is there or how it is regulated on a uniform metric of what is safe for all of us in general? Us in the USA, the world? We’re all definitely getting bounced with some waves that were not known about not too long ago- so bare with me- Experimental!

So when we take this:

Pretty linear right? It is called: Linear Algebra for a reason.🤣

We remember that our saddle exists in a curve with it’s edges into an infinite exponential expansion. We lose the typical (x,y,z) grid, and in it’s place, we find a infinite amount of lines intersecting without ever actually touching.

You can relate the human mind to data. Storage and RAM, VRAM, cache clears and cycle loops. In computers we run into hardware restrictions and latency issues.

People experience those same latency issues, those are those hazy moments of confusion, dizziness, disorientation. Like being out of your element.

If you think of say, your Chrome browser, and how many tabs you have open. Phone or laptop, doesn’t matter. We have all seen them- the people with like 30+ tabs open all at once. Why do we close those?

It’s not so much that they take up storage space, they do that anyways, those are memories lets say. They take up RAM in a computer, when too many are open, the computer lags, it is called latency.

We observe like we are watching a single solo computer screen or operating 1 single tab. Some people are doing multiple, Some are hyper-threading and these are the people watching all of those tabs, simultaneously.

This is where our predictive modeling comes in, we can look at it as behavioral but the math we will flip from linear algebra and into trigonometry which deal with angles, more specifically triangles.

Telemetry is the in situ collection of measurements or other data at remote points and their automatic transmission to receiving equipment (telecommunication) for monitoring.^[1] The word is derived from the Greek roots tele, ‘far off’, and metron, ‘measure’. Systems that need external instructions and data to operate require the counterpart of telemetry: telecommand.^[2]

The process of sending, receiving and measuring scientific data over long distances- there is all the data study we can go over in more detailed discussions of the subjects.

You can actually build some pretty interesting stuff on this math, I chose to apply it into psychology and design modeling.

If you think of spatial tracking like radar and pay attention to this picture- it is a flat Euclidean map- those blips on that radar are in a hyperbolic space at different altitudes. That is the non-Euclidean environment.

If most people looked at this in a radar tower without training or understanding, how do you perceive seeing this on a screen?

Can you look at that and tell which blip is at which altitude?

What happens when more blips start to appear? It is obviously more to track.

When you are in a room with 8 people, every sound, every different conversation, the voice down the hall, a radio, random sounds- a book plopped down, a alarm beep, the cell chirping a text alert, you notice every single movement- you can even close your eyes- and they are still moving on the plotted trajectories.

We will touch base on Thom Hartmann and some cognitive psychologists and other publishings in my next edition and see what other connections the math makes.

Incorporating Hyperbolic Mathematics into Cognitive Psychology: Converting Linear Algebra #1

Typically we look at this: If x occurs, execute y, and the result is z

So one thing I love to do in life apparently, is to confuse the ____ (Mad-lib) out of people. One of the fun parts of Mad-Libs is, we get to insert different variables.

Some of you may recognize the above formula as some very basic linear algebra and pretty legendary piece of computer code. Let’s think about what this formula is and how we can apply this in mathematical psychology.

If x=y then goto z

It is so very simple right? Lets define x, y, and z. Also, we need to remember that Euclidean geometry works based on a (x,y,z) axis- open any graphic design program,

The formula, I am calling Observation.

If you = x, and y=not feeling good.

Maybe it would make sense z= home.

“if you(x) = (y) not feeling good then goto home.”

So this is the observation that spawns the action, we don’t feel good so we are going home. This is a pretty clear and simple and linear thought.

What happens when you’re out somewhere and you don’t have that one thought at that one moment you have something more like this:

Keep in mind this is all very basic algebra 😜 Like literal 5th grade stuff..

Gets a little busy and cloudy doesn’t it?

Notice we however, have some more options here… They look like variations of the initial option. When we apply this to the way we think- this is not just “i don’t feel good, goto home”, this is a consideration of multiple options, they all connect.

The Oxford Dictionary of Psychology defines cognitive psychology: As the branch of psychology concerned with the scientific study of the mind and mental function, including learning, memory, attention, perception, reasoning, language, conceptual development, and decision-making.

We have a lot to play with here, learning, memory, attention and perception are huge!

This is my introduction to this subject, so if you are unfamiliar with cognitive awareness, perception, how this applies in psychology, you can find a plethora of credible literature in scientific publishings about cognitive spatial mapping.

What happens when it starts happening like this. That is most certainly a lot of what I like to call: Chaos.

In this series, we will discuss positive and negative cognitive looping, triggers, mathematical analysis with much more complex math than linear algebra.

Watch what happens when we start to apply Hyperbolic Mathematics.

In 2014, Maryam Mirzakhani was the first woman ever to be awarded mathematic’s highest primary honorary award: The Fields Medal. This is the Nobel Prize for mathematics.

Maryam passed away in 2017 after a four year downhill battle with breast cancer.

May 12, 1977 Tehran, Iran- from a country where women still suffer major oppression

July 14, 2017 Stanford, California- Harvard PhD in mathematics, professor of advanced geometrical mathematics with tenures at both Princeton and Stanford universities.

In 2014, after winning the world’s highest honor in mathematics Iranian newspapers famously altered her photos. Even a world-class woman genius would not be publicly displayed without a mandatory hijab.

Maryam blasted her mathematics professor at Harvard, Prof. Curtis McMullen with an exotic and artistically designed thesis :

This thesis connected several very specialized fields within Hyperbolic Geometry, Topology, Teichmüller Theory, and Ergodic Dynamics Theory.

And this was only her initial thesis.

What comes to mind when we say isomorphism?

I grew up with MC Escher prints on my bedroom walls, there were two in particular.

Some pretty crazy looking stairs known as Escher’s Relativity,

So, let's define Isomorphism and then take a look at another Escher inspiration.

I typically like to go by Oxford definitions as it is considered highly respected in the academic community if you prefer Webster’s you will find similar definitions, just be weary of the Urban Dictionary:

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, isomorphism refers to a correspondence, similarity, or identity of form, shape, or structure between two different things. The term comes from the Greek words isos (equal) and morphe (form). [1, 2, 3]

The definition varies slightly depending on the field of study:

Mathematics & Logic: A one-to-one mapping (correspondence) between two sets or mathematical systems that preserves the basic operations, relations, and structure. Essentially, two systems are isomorphic if they share the exact same structural properties. [1, 2, 3]
Chemistry: The existence of two or more different chemical substances that crystallize in the exact same or very similar geometric form. [1, 2]
Biology: A similarity in the outward form, shape, or appearance of organisms belonging to different species, or between different generations in the same life cycle. [1, 2]
Sociology / Business: The tendency for different organizations within a similar field or environment to adopt similar processes, structures, and behaviors over time. [1, 2]

One of the first things I learned in debate, was to lay down clear definitions of the subject and a unified standing thereof so I also like to refer to the Scientific Definition as well :

An isomorphism is a structure-preserving mapping between two objects that shows their underlying structures are essentially identical. While the term means “equal form” (from Greek isos and morphe), its specific definition varies depending on the scientific discipline. [1, 2, 3]

1. Mathematics and Computer Science

An isomorphism is a bijective (one-to-one and onto) map between two mathematical structures that preserves the operations, relations, and properties of the elements. If two objects are isomorphic, they are structurally identical; one can be translated into the other and back again without losing any information. [1, 2, 3, 4]

This combines two elements:

A binary operation is a rule for gluing two things together to get a new thing. Common examples include addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (x), or division (÷). Just a placeholder symbol used to stand in for any of these rules, I have not yet figured out how to write formula here .🤬

Example: In group theory, let f be a mapping between two sets that preserves the operation such that: f(x * y) = f(x) * f(y). [1]

2. Chemistry

In chemistry, isomorphism refers to two or more different chemical substances that crystallize in the exact same crystalline structure or form. [1, 2, 3]

Example: The garnet mineral group or potassium dihydrogen phosphate and ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, which share the same crystal lattice and can form mixed crystals despite varying chemical compositions. [1]

3. Biology

In biology and paleontology, it describes organisms of different ancestry or lineage that exhibit extreme similarity in physical appearance or structure, often due to convergent evolution. It can also refer to organisms whose different life stages (e.g., haploid and diploid phases) are completely indistinguishable by morphology. [1, 2, 3]

4. Psychology and Neuroscience

Borrowed from Gestalt psychology, it is the theoretical concept that there is a direct, structural, and functional correspondence between an external physical stimulus and the brain state/physiological processes created by that stimulus. [1, 2]

5. Sociology and Organization Theory

Referred to as institutional isomorphism, this concept describes how organizations facing the same environmental constraints or pressures become increasingly similar in their structures, processes, and culture over time, often imitating one another. [1,2]

Pinpoint the location in the saddle

Mapping the Saddle & the 5-Simplex

In my introduction to hyperbolic geometry, we discussed and shattered the traditional, flat Euclidean conditioning with the introduction of curved non-Euclidean geometry. We have established and staked that reality doesn’t move on a parallel grid—it expands, diverges, and breathes on a surface of constant negative curvature. This surface is referred to as the saddle.

Understanding how this geometry interacts with subjects ranging from spatial music to data infrastructure expanding into the human cognitive psyche requires us to look past abstract equations. We must define the literal building blocks of the saddle, trace its form through the ticking isomorphism of an hourglass, and prepare our minds to visualize a higher-dimensional framework.

Through the 5-Simplex, the fifth dimension has been located.

The Hyperbolic Paraboloid

In the physical world of structural design and vector mechanics, the saddle is formally defined as a hyperbolic paraboloid. Imagine a surface where every single point is a crossroads of opposing forces.

If you trace the saddle from left to right, it curves aggressively upward like a valley, creating a path of compression.
If you trace it from front to back, it sweeps violently downward like a mountain ridge, creating a path of tension.

(This was my 1st attempt at writing an equation in the substack editor, it is not really geared for mathematical work lol so i guess i will be importing equations like this)

You would think geometrical shapes and forms are just passive and static in naturebut this is actuallya dynamic structural engine. On a standard Euclidean plane, if you draw a triangle, the angles must strictly add up to 180 degrees However, on the negative curvature of the hyperbolic paraboloid, triangles get sucked inward by the saddle’s geometry. Their side curves compress, and their angles always add up to less than 180 degrees.

Because the surface constantly drops away from itself, space expands exponentially as you move outward from the origin. This structural property is exactly why the saddle is the ultimate blueprint for everything known within our universe.

The Hourglass: Space, Time, and Polar Cones

To visualize how this negative curvature handles the flow of reality, we look to the symbol established as the main InSerenity logo: The Hourglass. The hourglass is not just a poetic metaphor for a ticking clock, nor is this a literary piece based on fiction. It is a precise geometrical model for causality. It is defined by two opposing polar cones meeting at a single infinite focal point.

The Lower Polar Cone (Time/Convergence): This represents the gravity of history, memory, and physical relativity. It is the “Meaning Compression Layer” where all historical trajectories, poetic collisions, and physical actions converge into a single, localized present moment—the focal point.
The Upper Polar Cone (Space/Divergence): The moment information passes through the central focal point, the geometry flips. It sheds its linear restraints and bursts into the upper cone. Because this space obeys Lobachevskian rules, it opens into an infinite field of simultaneous trajectories that expand outward exponentially.

The hourglass is a literal translation method. It takes the compressed, heavy energy of time and converts it into the spatial abundance of open, divergent space. This is where I link particle physics with psychological projection.

(This I wrote as a draft for this article, and define how I have evolved the hourglass, since my first introduction to it as a 5th dimensional hyperbolic plane.)

(Top Left-This was the original diagram of the hourglass I first worked off of. Initially I thought it was a double sided cone- it is not. The intersecting planes here I have, I also learned are not relevant and if entered in equation- is not correct. I learned that the Hourglass flips its poles through something like isomorphism in certain applications)

With this picture displayed we will outline the dimensions.

1st Dimension: The Linear Trapping of Language
This is the plane of linear thought expressed through speech. Language is fundamentally sequential; because it can only move one word at a time, it inevitably runs into massive latency issues- you just think faster than you can talk. Speech is merely a clunky translation of a multi-dimensional image the mind has already produced. By forcing our brains into linear syntax from the moment we learn our first words, we actively train ourselves to suppress hyperbolic, multi-threaded thinking.
2nd & 3rd Dimensions: The True Processing Engine
This is where thoughts actually occur before they are throttled by language. If you ask people whether they think in words or images, most will claim they think in words. In reality, the human brain still processes information as a hyperbolic, multi-dimensional layout—we have just trained ourselves to flatten that spatial image into a linear internal monologue (the voice inside your head).
The 3rd Dimension Illusion: Visual Geometry
Human beings cannot physically see the third dimension. If you think your eyes perceive a true 3D world, you are mathematically incorrect; the retina only captures flat, 2D images. It is our brain’s rapid calculation of depth, shadows, and values that creates the illusion of a 3D environment. Strip a complex visual down to a single, high-contrast monochrome tone with zero depth values, and the illusion vanishes instantly, I’m sure everyone has played with Adobe at some point or rendered a drawing.
4th Dimension: Abstract Spacetime
In psychological terms, this plane is still treated as theoretical. Even Albert Einstein famously noted:
“I think in four dimensions, but only abstractly. The human mind can picture these dimensions no more than it can envisage electricity.”
We will challenge this boundary later with modern mathematical evidence and actionable reader experiments designed to bypass Einstein’s limitations and help you visually map both 4D and 5D space, or at least understand the concept.
5th Dimension: The Hyperbolic Matrix of Cognitive Static
If the 4th dimension introduces the vector of time to physical space, the 5th dimension in psychology is the plane of non-linear, hyper-threaded cognitive processing. This is the native architecture of the highly unstructured mind—often mislabeled as a disability like ADHD, Bi-Polar, Autism, down syndrome, etc.
Instead of waiting on linear time or language sequences, a 5th-dimensional cognitive engine views all variables, memories, and random sensory data simultaneously as a curved, hyperbolic landscape. It operates within the static forming instantaneous, non-linear connections across seemingly unrelated data points within the mind. It is the plane of raw, unthrottled spatial awareness where the brain stops tracking coordinates sequentially and begins processing the entire environment matrix at once.
This is, a higher sense of cognitive spatial awareness.

Entering the Higher Dimensions: The 5-Simplex

The 5-Simplex is Hyperbolic, it can take almost an infinite amount of shapes and there is a lot to play with.

(You can go crazy with the artistic renditions, some of the fun, is drawing a new design- of course freehand it out like this above, it is not going to be geometrically correct however, with some time, it is like building something- you make all the angles and math work- so you then have your own formula on how to make your design. Cool stuff)

If the saddle gives us the surface and the hourglass gives us the dual flow of space and time, how then do we link this into a unified functional system, a 5D hologram generator, or a cross-disciplinary creative network? In standard geometry, a Simplex is the simplest possible structure that can exist in any given dimension:

2D: A triangle.
3D: A tetrahedron (pyramid).
4D: A hypercube (tesseract).
5D: The 5-Simplex.

A 5-Simplex is the six-pointed structural molecule of the fifth dimension. It consists of 6 vertices, 15 edges, 20 triangular faces, 15 tetrahedral cells, and 6 four-dimensional hyper-volumes (5-cells), all perfectly interconnected.

Every single node of the 5-Simplex is directly linked to every other node in the structure.

There are no degrees of separation.

The 5-Simplex is the ultimate architectural platform for what psychology terms a “multi-thread mind.” This allows us to hold six entirely different spatial dimensions of a concept simultaneously, ensuring that no matter which node an observer interacts with, they are all instantly and simultaneously connected to the whole.

The Distant Horizon

You can quite literally map the geometry of its vertices, maintaining core mathematical components. We can unlock a highly elastic framework for multi-threaded cognitive mapping and fluid interface designs into an almost unlimited number of applications.

You are an Explorer.

Imagine you are walking along the surface of a perfect NON-Euclidean plane (sorry I added “NON” after the initial mailer sent out & publish, i realized in review i had forgotten to state this puzzle as on a Non-euclidean plane as I am so demonstrating).

You walk forward in a straight line for exactly 10 miles, then turn left exactly 90 degrees.

You walk another 10 miles in a straight line, then turn left exactly 90 degrees again.

Finally, you walk a final 10 miles and stop.

The Question: Are you closer to, or further away from, your initial starting point?

Remember what happens to the internal angles of a polygon when the surface drops exponentially in every direction? 😜

In geometry, Lobachevskian geometry—or Bolyai-Lobachevskian geometry—is the cornerstone of what we define as Non-Euclidean.

This is Hyperbolic Geometry.

To understand this, we must first look at how we have been conditioned to view reality. The parallel postulate of Euclidean geometry is viewed as:

For any given line R and a point P not on line R, in the plane containing both line R and point P, there are at least two distinct lines through P that do not intersect R.

The Comparison: Euclidean vs. Hyperbolic

To see why this matters, we must contrast this with Playfair’s Axiom, which serves as the modern standard for Euclidean geometry.

Euclidean Reality (Playfair’s Axiom): Given a line and a point not on that line, there is exactly one line that can be drawn through the point that never intersects the original line.
- The Philosophy: This is the geometry of a flat, predictable world where everything is contained, calculated, and parallel lines stay strictly parallel. It is the geometry of linear structures and canned logic.
Hyperbolic Reality (The Lobachevskian Shift): By stating there are at least two (and logically, an infinite number of) lines that never intersect, we break that flat box.
- The Philosophy: This is the geometry of a more open system. It represents divergence, growth, and spatial abundance. In a hyperbolic space, the world expands as you move away from the center. It allows for multiple, simultaneous truths that do not converge or compete.

Why This is the InSerenity Logic

We live in a world that insists on the Euclidean model—a singular, linear path for every scenario. But the human mind, at its most creative and hyperbolic state, operates on the Lobachevskian model. We see multiple tangents, multiple solutions, and multiple creative directions that never intersect the status quo but expand beyond it.

We are looking past the single line that remains parallel. We looking for the space created by the divergence.

This perspective is a mathematical exercise; it is the fundamental language of the most profound minds in history. To master this logic, we must look to the architects who built our modern understanding of these divergent spaces.

We often think of mathematics as something dry or detached from the physical world. Mirzakhani, the late, legendary hyperbolic geometer, proved otherwise. She calculated hyperbolic surfaces by physically assembling them. She understood that to truly grasp the geometry of the saddle, one has to interact with it; observe it. She would spend days drawing large, complex sheets of paper, tracing the paths of geodesics, effectively painting the hyperbolic structure. Her work is the blueprint for InSerenity as an overall multi-faced production: she showed us that complex, non-Euclidean systems can be mapped and mastered if you approach them with the hands of an artist and the discipline of a scientist.

If Mirzakhani mapped the static saddle, Sau Lan Wu tracks the motion within it. As an astrophysicist operating at the frontier of the CERN particle accelerators, Dr. Wu deals with particles moving at velocities where Euclidean geometry completely breaks down. When particles collide and shatter, they don’t move in lines; they trace hyperbolic arcs and curves—the fireworks of high-energy existence. Her work, tracking light and matter as they curve through space-time is the literal manifestation of our hyperbolic hourglass. She taught us that the most fundamental building blocks of our reality do not obey linear trajectories; they obey the geometry of the curve.

And, of course, the architect of the frame itself. Einstein theorized relativity; he recognized that gravity is the curvature of space-time. While we use hyperbolic geometry to map our creative and literary ideas, Einstein used the same curvature to define the motion of the planets and the bending of light. He bridged the gap between the infinitely large and the intimately small.

The Surface of the Saddle

Having established that we are dealing with a geometry of divergent space, we must now ask: What does this space look like?

If Euclidean geometry exists on a flat plane— the sheet of paper, hyperbolic geometry exists on the Saddle. It is a surface with constant negative curvature—curving up in one direction and down in another.

It is this Saddle Structure that allows for the infinite spread of lines we just described.

In our next dive, we will map the Saddle. We will look at how the physical structure of the hyperbolic plane governs the way we map data, create music, and build narrative worlds.

Let’s start off by saying I openly hate social media.

I don’t use it—no Facebook, no X, no Twitter. My last account was Facebook around 2015, solely to play the original Evony Ages I & II. It’s been eleven years.

Personally, these sites are great for business, but they are a massive waste of time and an outright distraction in our tech-era society—full of cat pics, “booty wiggle” videos, and whatever else counts as “content” today.

Everyday.

It creates what we call “Cell Phone Zombies”—people living in a 3x6 inch box, walking into traffic as they flounder down the street. These corporations spend millions on psychologists to study how to keep you scrolling. You might call it crazy or a conspiracy, but it is borderline mind control and it’s true.

It is an addiction fueled by dopamine, melatonin, and serotonin. You scroll mindlessly, seeking aesthetics you’ve seen a million times over, trapped in a hyperloop, lost and detached from the society around you.

Cognitive looping is where your brain gets stuck. It is an attention-deficit symptom where the device overrides your autonomy. You’d think this is worse for those with ADHD, and it can be, but the real test is for those who possess the “control switch”—the overseers.

Your psychologist looks for negative cognitive looping: the “my life is falling apart” cycles that drag the subject deeper into the hole. It’s the exact same hole you descend into while scrolling.

Oh, it’s not the same? How about I take the phone away? How are you going to feel?

I’d bet money that within an hour, you’ll be itching for it back.

Sure you would.
