This is a panel I did back in September. It took about 4 days but is still not complete like so many of my projects. This is one thing you will not see on those AI accounts is the actual process of creation and those people will lack the fundamental learning and problem solving skills that come along with doing things by hand and actually studying your subjects.
First time Sponge Bob & Patrick Starfish:
I’d done Bugs and Lola a bunch prior to this, actually some very similiar ones of them with the rose, this however, was my first Minion 🥳
I use a lot of grid format, almost like a doodle grid to do my layouts, but more from an architectural background i find the geometry easier to follow. This panel was 100% free-style by hand.
The top left piece is my signature “Mad Maestro Snoop & Breakdance Woodstock”, I have been working on tightening this little creation into places I can where Snoopy & Woodstock just look sooo cool doing their thing.🤣
It starts all nice and organized.
And I usually end up with a cyclone like so:
I like to take pictures in different stages, especially big pieces like this, kind of show my progression - It’s about 9 months since I did this, just posting these is a good refresh on the process I spent days on. I know the AI can do it in seconds, most won’t kick out your copyrighted characters though- so no fan art for you. 🤣 Plus Jessica Rabbit is a lot of fun to learn on.
I will have a section coming dedicated to Mrs. Rabbit.
This below, is where I left it. I want still to color in the dialogue box so my lettering stands out better, finish my Willie Coyote there in the bottom right strangling his catch. and fill in some of the white negative space I am seeing as I look at it.
