Greetings Substack
Epic Historical Fiction piece inbound.
Welcome to my page,
I’m a writer and artist based out of Boston Massachusetts, and for the last many years, I’ve been studying a specific, high-friction era in history: 18th-century China.
They called her the Ghost General. To the Qing Empire, she was the over persistent rebel that refused to be quelled.
To the starving millions of the Low Cities, she was the Maitreya of Freedom and Compassion.
Starting today, I am debuting my first historical fiction project on the life, the legacy and the myth of Madam Wáng Cóng’ér of The White Lotus.
She was an acrobat who learned to fly on circus rigging before she ever took a life. She was a master of the Liǔyèdāo—twin willow leaf sabers and a disciple of the Southern Shaolin system Kung Fu.
Cóng’ér didn't just lead an army of over one-hundred thousand; she led a Sovereign Reset across the Hubei Mountains though the heart of China which became the most formidable rise of the White Lotus Sect, effectively bankrupting the lucrative Qing Dynasty.
My Story,
“Cong’er :The Ghost General”, Chapter 1 :" “The Pulse of the Low City” with my Prologue introduction will mark the beginning of my historical recreation of Wáng Cóng’ér’s life.
I have studied her extensively over the past twenty years and reasonably feel I can say about 80-85% of this story is historically accurate, obviously I have had to take some creative liberties to fill in some lost gaps— as Wáng Cóng’ér was in fact so successful in her campaign, after her death it was attempted by the administration of the Qing Dynasty to remove all records of her from history.
I will eventually start a maintained posting schedule as i get more assimilated to the site.
